IAEA opens public access to records of nuclear events via the Nuclear Events Web-based System (NEWS). The system provides information on nuclear events of safety significance from 60 participating countries. Members of the Experimental Aircraft Association have introduced over 700,000 children to flying under the Young Eagles Program through free demonstration flights. The program goal is to provide introductory flights to one million children by the 100th anniversary of powered flight in 2003 December. British Airways and Air France retire the Concorde supersonic passenger jetliner. British Airways Concordes carried 2.5 million passengers over 27 years of commercial service. Retired aircraft have been donated to aviation museums in Europe and North America. |
Guidance outlining principles and practices for specifying alarm properties and configuring the CAMLS annunciation system was prepared for AECL. A paper discussing commonly encountered problems with operational procedures and offering suggestions for improvement was presented at the annual Canadian Nuclear Society conference session on Control Room Operations. Crew Systems Solutions celebrates five years of providing service to clients in the aviation and nuclear industries. An invited paper on nuclear industry experience in working with automation was presented at the IBM 2003 CASCON conference on computer science and software engineering. |
