The concept of lateness in communication becomes obsolete when Google launches a new gmail feature on April 1. The 'Custom Time' feature allows gmail users to assign past dates and times to emails they issue.

Most conversations in English now occur between individuals whose first language is not English. As a result, some characteristics of the most frequently spoken languages, such as Mandarin, are inadvertently being incorporated into English.

Three large-scale trials of plug-in hybrid cars are being conducted in Europe. Trials in Paris and London are underway, with one in Berlin to begin in 2009. Cars are being supplied by Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, and Smart.

 

General aviation is entering the jet-age with the coming availability of very light personal jets from several manufacturers. Small four place jets are under development and certification by Cessna, Diamond, Cirrus and Eclipse.

The two nuclear units of the South Texas Project have set a new US power generation record by completing four continuous production runs without trips or power reductions between refuelling outages. The two units achieved the lowest production cost (i.e., 1.36 cents/kWh) of all US power plants in 2006.

The Arktika, the lead vessel in Russia's second nuclear icebreaker class, has been retired after 33 years of service. The vessel was powered by two 171 MWt pressurized water reactors which were operated for over 175,000 hours. The ship now serves as an engineering base to study life extension options for sister vessels still in service.

 

Crew System Solutions celebrates 10 years of service to nuclear industry clients. We thank past and current clients for the opportunities to assist them, and look forward to future collaborations.
