A US Airways crew led by pilot Chesley Sullenburger success-fully ditches an Airbus 320 with 150 passengers in the Hudson River by New York. The aircraft encountered dual engine loss after takeoff, and remained intact and buoyant following the ditching facilitating passenger evacuation to responding harbour ferrys. No loss of life or major injuries occurred. The Swedish government decides to reinvest in nuclear power to meet growing national energy demands. The decision ends a 28 year ban on new nuclear construction. |
